KAB’s programs

KAB WA is committed to the development of activities and targeted campaigns in order to educate different sectors of the community in litter prevention and environmental sustainability. KAB aims to change littering behaviours through developing programs, providing education and infrastructure, enforcement, and offering incentives and communication to the community through the way of grant money and media.

KAB’s programs include:

Schools/Community/Clubs:

 
Clean Clubs
An education and awareness campaign about waste and litter management for sports clubs, grounds and sports events

Clean Schools
A new whole school approach to litter. The Clean Schools program is suitable for primary or secondary school. The program contains a step-by-step guide for implementation and can be run in as little as 4 weeks.

Adopt - a - Spot
Adopt-a-Spot is an enjoyable and educational litter program that gives local communities the opportunity to contribute to a healthier and cleaner environment.

KAB WA provides support and assistance to community groups involved in local clean up efforts.

Bin Your Butt
Reduce butt litter at your business and surrounds through a range of resources to help encourage your staff to bin their butts.

Tidy Towns – Sustainable Communities WA Awards
This program acknowledges and rewards regional communities by recognizing projects that enhance and look after the community’s assets and surrounding environment. A “tidy” town is a community that works together to improve its appearance and environment and implements sustainable practices and programs.

Kevin is a crab from Ningaloo helping us spread the anti-litter message

Prevention of Litter:

 
Litter Report Scheme
Registered litter reporters submit reports of littering from vehicles. These reports are processed by KABC under the Litter Act 1979 and infringements are sent to offenders.

Litter Prevention Grants
These grants provide financial support and guidance to individuals, communities and organizations for the implementation of projects which make lasting changes to prevent and reduce litter and change littering behaviour

Keep Australia Beautiful Week
KAB week runs every year in August. During this week the KAB National association and KAB WA run events to raise awareness of litter prevention and protection of our environment. Previous event have included Spring Clean Up, Zero Waste Lunches and Litter Critter Competitions.
