Promoting the anti-litter message

Since 2009, Western Australia has achieved some great success in reducing litter, with a 27% reduction in the number of items littered and a 21% reduction in the volume of litter recorded via the National Litter Index.

To continue to positively impact on litter statistics in the long term, Keep Australia Beautiful recognises the important role of community education and awareness strategies, designed to influence the attitudes and behaviours of litterers and work in conjunction with other strategies to reduce littering.

Keep Australia Beautiful anti-litter campaigns are carefully developed in conjunction with professional advertising and media agencies and considering current behaviour change and local research.
